DIRECTV Latin America to Consolidate U.S. Broadcast Operations
“ Miami Broadcast Center to Cease Operations in Second Quarter of 2006”

El Segundo, Calif., Oct 10, 2005 DIRECTV Latin America (DTVLA), a unit of The DIRECTV Group, announced today that it will begin the process of consolidating operations at its two broadcast centers in the United States. Over the next year, DTVLA will consolidate several functions that have been based at the company's Miami Lakes facility into its California Broadcast Center (CBC) located in Long Beach , Calif. , and as a result, approximately 100 positions will be eliminated at the Miami Lakes facility and about 30 new positions will be created at the CBC.
It is expected that the Miami Lakes facility will cease broadcast operations in the second quarter of 2006.
"This consolidation supports our goals of achieving greater operational efficiencies and reducing costs. It also will enable us to more easily emulate the technology roadmap of DIRECTV U.S. ," said Bruce Churchill, president of DIRECTV Latin America.
Employees at the Miami Lakes Facility will be offered a retention and severance package. Outplacement services will also be available to those employees
